Tell us about yourself and your current role at Popay.

My passion for technology, particularly its ability to improve lives, stems from my lifelong love of Formula 1. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions. Before joining Popay, I held various roles at Oracle Africa, such as Solution Engineer and Design Initiative Lead. Here at Popay, I’ve spent the last two years spearheading the development of HR business practices across Africa. My responsibilities include lead generation, managing opportunities, working with partners, and coordinating project delivery and implementation.

Can you walk us through your experience at Popay?

I joined Popay just after the COVID-19 pandemic, when companies were struggling with remote work and regaining momentum.  Initially, it was challenging to adapt to a more multifaceted role coming from a large organization with established procedures.  I had to learn everything from lead management to contract review.  However, we’ve been working on refining our processes to streamline the sales workflow. While it’s ongoing, we’re confident it will yield positive results.

 What drew you to Popay?

I had previously collaborated with Khadim and Pierre on projects across Africa with Oracle. Popay consistently impressed me as a trusted HR partner for our Fusion/EBS customers with a successful track record.  After 15 years at Oracle, transitioning to Popay felt natural. It allowed me to stay in the HR space and drive innovation through technology.

What was your role at Oracle?

I was a Human Capital Management Solution Engineer for Oracle Middle East and Africa.

Can you describe a typical workday at Popay?

My day starts at 6:15 AM with some stretches, followed by getting my kids ready. I’m usually at my desk by 9:15 AM. My schedule involves a mix of client interaction (demos and presentations), internal coordination, and preparing for meetings.  I typically finish around 5 PM.

What kind of feedback do you receive from clients?

While recognition is nice, my focus is on delivering results and securing contracts.  If I had to choose a compliment, it would be being described as passionate and energetic.

Is there anything unique about your experience at Popay?

Despite the remote work environment, I’ve formed close friendships with my colleagues. They go above and beyond, and their expertise and support have been invaluable. This camaraderie and teamwork illuminate the path of IT work with friendship and shared knowledge.

What do you enjoy most about working at Popay?

The genuine camaraderie and dedication of my colleagues are what I appreciate most at Popay. They’re true friends who readily collaborate and solve problems together.

Can you share a specific accomplishment you’re proud of at Popay?

Securing my first purchase order was a significant milestone.  I was involved in the entire sales cycle, from initial lead generation to project execution and follow-up. Every step felt rewarding, knowing my efforts contributed to its success.
